Niner RLT 9 Frameset - 2015

When Niner introduced the RLT 9 Frameset, we admit we were taken by surprise. Then again, even though it does have 700c wheels, it's outfitted to take on everything from the local gravel roads to summertime touring. It's more than a road bike. The most noticeable part of the RLT is that its geometry draws from the Aluminum Niner Air 9 Frame. The hydroformed tubes are designed in such a way that they minimize chatter. The ovalized tubing also increases the strength of the frame so it'll handle all the rough roads that come your way. The seat tube is 27. 2mm and is designed to be used with Niner's RDO post which has a bit of flex built in. This provides an even smoother ride. And while smooth is good, you still want power. The 68mm PF30 bottom bracket shell works with larger spindle cranks to optimize power transfer to the rear triangle. It is also compatible with Niner's BioCentric eccentric bottom bracket for a singlespeed setup. The RLT 9 features a tapered headset that's mated to a tapered fork that looks suspiciously like the RDO mountain fork. The headset is a Cane Creek IS42/IS52. Now to set it further apart from the standard road frame, Niner included a post-style brake mount that accommodates 140mm disc brakes, or 160mm with an adapter. Additionally, there are rack and fender mounts for rainy-day commutes or long hauls through the countryside.
